University of Guanajuato hosts science outreach program for students
The University of Guanajuato (UG) held the ‘Hoy Soy Abeja Universitaria’ program at its Celaya-Salvatierra Campus (CCS) to connect high school students from the Escuela de Nivel Medio Superior de Celaya (ENMS) with university life.
Set against the backdrop of the 11th International Multidisciplinary Engineering Congress, the event hosted 160 attendees. The program featured lectures, scientific outreach, and competitions designed to make science accessible. Participants engaged in the ‘Catapult Battle’ to develop prototypes using engineering, physics, and mathematics, and took part in the ‘En modo abeja’ rally to explore biotechnology, agro-industrial, and civil engineering.
The initiative was a collaborative effort between professors Karla Judith Kantún Hernández, Marcela Guadalupe Téllez Martínez, and Fátima Elena Esquivel Rodríguez. The event also included presentations from scientific communicators Daniel Domínguez Gómez of Allbiotech and Laura Vázquez Ayala.
