University of Guanajuato students organize memorial for Joan Francisco

Students and family members of Joan Francisco Díaz Rodríguez, a student at the University of Guanajuato (UG), have organized a memorial and march following his death. Díaz Rodríguez had been reported missing since September 28, and his body was later discovered in the Pastita River area within the historic center of Guanajuato city.

The memorial event includes a candlelight vigil at the central building's steps and a march starting from Mexiamora Plaza, passing the municipal presidency. Organizers have requested that participants wear white and carry photographs and messages in honor of the deceased.

This incident has intensified existing calls from the university community for increased security from state and municipal authorities. Student assemblies have previously been held to address safety concerns and prepare formal petitions for state leadership.
