University of Hawai'i basketball signs French guard Maidy Douglas

The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team has finalized its 2026-27 roster with the signing of Maidy Douglas, a 6-foot-4 combo guard from Paris, France. Douglas, who recently received his student visa, is expected to arrive in Honolulu this weekend.

Douglas joins the Rainbow Warriors after a successful stint with Nanterre 92 in the French system, where he was named the MVP of the Espoirs Pro A U21 league. During that season, he averaged 24.0 points per game. He also recently competed for the French national team at the FIBA U20 EuroBasket tournament, where he helped the team secure a bronze medal.

As an academic redshirt, Douglas will be eligible to practice and participate in team activities but will sit out of competition during the 2026-27 season to fulfill eligibility requirements. He will have four seasons of NCAA eligibility following his redshirt year.
