University of Hawaii football adds two quarterbacks after roster shake‑up

The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors entered fall camp with only two quarterbacks on the depth chart after freshman Maika Eugenio was removed from the roster. Starting quarterback Micah Alejado and transfer Bjorn Jurgensen were left without a third option.

To fill the gap, the program added local recruit Hazyn Botelho, a former Kamehameha Schools quarterback and wide receiver, as a scout‑team player, and fifth‑year transfer Isaac Jaramilla‑Phe, who came from Division III schools Mary Hardin‑Baylor and West Virginia Wesleyan after missing the 2025 season with a torn labrum. Coach Timmy Chang said, “We added two new guys, understanding we lost our third.” Jaramilla‑Phe, who is half‑Filipino and half‑Cambodian, expressed enthusiasm: “I’m happy for the opportunity.”

With the additions, Hawaii now has four quarterbacks—Alejado, Jurgensen, Botelho and Jaramilla‑Phe—ready to compete in the run‑and‑shoot offense as the team prepares for its season opener against Stanford.
