University of Helsinki opens academic leadership course applications

The Helsinki Institute for Social Sciences and Humanities (HSSH) and the University of Helsinki have opened applications for the seventh edition of the Academic Career Planning and Leadership (ACLA) course for the 2026–2027 academic year.

Targeted at post-doctoral researchers aiming to launch independent careers and build research groups, the course covers topics such as funding opportunities, project management, research ethics, and publication strategies. The program will host approximately 15–20 participants from various social science and humanities disciplines. The curriculum includes six sessions held on Fridays throughout the academic year, with a planned excursion to Brussels in early May 2027 to study European science policy. The application deadline is September 10, 2026.
