University of Hohenheim develops AI to predict obesity therapy success

Researchers at the University of Hohenheim have developed an artificial intelligence model capable of predicting the success of one-year lifestyle therapies for patients with obesity. The study, published in the journal ‘Microbiome’, focused on 50 adults diagnosed with Grade III obesity.

The AI model utilizes various data points, including information regarding the gut microbiome, to forecast treatment outcomes. In testing, the model achieved an AUC (Area Under the Curve) value of 0.898, indicating a high level of statistical accuracy and predictive capability for clinical decision-making.
