University of Houston bans faculty member amid abuse allegations

The University of Houston has banned an adjunct faculty member and placed them on administrative leave following allegations of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The university reported that the situation arose from a campus disruption involving a video that allegedly contained discussions of child sexual abuse materials. The Houston Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is currently investigating the matter.

In Conroe, Texas, the City Council has approved a budget that includes continued funding for Flock surveillance cameras. The decision follows public opposition from residents concerned about mass surveillance and the improper use of funds. While some community members argued that citizens should have a vote on the technology, Conroe Police Chief Jon Buckholtz defended the system, stating there has been no evidence of misuse during its seven-year presence in the city.
