University of Houston begins Centennial year celebrations
The University of Houston has launched a yearlong Centennial celebration to mark its 100th anniversary. President Renu Khator introduced the milestone during her State of the University address, highlighting the institution's evolution from a small school of 460 students and 15 faculty in 1927 to a Tier One research university serving nearly 49,000 students.
The centennial year will feature various events, storytelling, and traditions. These celebrations coincide with significant institutional investments, including the expansion of research enterprises, new facilities, and continued development of academic and health sectors to serve the Houston community and the United States.
