University of Houston football ranked #23 in AP Preseason Poll

The University of Houston football program has been ranked #23 in the Associated Press (AP) Preseason Poll. This marks the first time the Cougars have appeared in the preseason AP Poll since 2022 and represents their highest preseason ranking since 2016.

Coming off a 10-win season in 2025 that included a Texas Bowl victory over LSU, the team returns key players including starting quarterback Conner Weigman and wide receiver Amare Thomas. The Cougars are one of four teams in the Big 12 Conference to receive a preseason ranking by the media.
