University of Ibadan announces new certificate collection rules

The University of Ibadan has introduced new guidelines regarding the collection of Statements of Result and certificates for graduates. Under the new rules signed by Registrar Ganiyu Saliu, graduates are required to collect their Statements of Result within six months of notification. Failure to do so will result in a non-collection penalty of N2,500, which must be paid before the document is released.

Statements of Result will remain valid for two years from their date of issuance, serving as interim records until certificates are collected. The university stated that certificates are the official and permanent evidence of qualification. Collection of certificates within one year of convocation will incur a statutory fee of N7,500.

Delayed collection will attract increasing penalties: certificates collected between one and five years after convocation will incur a N25,000 penalty, while those collected between five and ten years will incur a N50,000 penalty. The university warned that any certificates remaining uncollected for more than 10 years will be subject to shredding.
