University of Ilorin lecturer arrested over WhatsApp post

Chief Elijah Olorunsuwa, a lecturer in the Department of Political Science at the University of Ilorin, has alleged that he was subjected to a harrowing experience by police officers following a WhatsApp post.

Olorunsuwa reported that officers arrived at his residence at approximately 5 am, claiming to be from the Kogi State Command. He stated that while he was initially told he was being taken to the Kwara State Police Command, the officers instead drove him toward Kogi State. The lecturer noted that he requested to see a warrant of arrest, but officers claimed it had been deposited at the state command and would be presented upon arrival. He described the ordeal as feeling like a kidnapping.
