University of Industrial Santander launches AI-driven health data initiative

The University of Industrial Santander’s health unit, UISALUD, began a training program for its leadership and process coordinators to develop machine‑learning and deep‑learning tools that can turn years of clinical and administrative data into actionable insights. Professors Carlos Augusto Fajardo and Said Pertuz from the School of Electrical, Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering presented core AI concepts, including predictive modeling and data analysis, emphasizing scientific, ethical and privacy standards. UISALUD director Santiago Ramírez Segura said the initiative aims to create predictive models to improve decision‑making, optimize resources and enhance the quality of care for the university community.
