University of Insubria and Vanderbilt University host international mathematics workshop
Researchers from the University of Insubria and Vanderbilt University recently held an international workshop in Nashville titled ‘Energy and Polarization Problems in Mathematics and Statistics – Part I’. The event was a collaboration between the InsIDE Lab, directed by Professor Raffaello Seri, and the Center for Constructive Approximation (CCA).
The workshop focused on the distribution of points in space, a field that integrates potential theory, approximation theory, and statistics. This research has practical applications in physics, chemistry, and materials science. Discussions centered on energy challenges, specifically configurations involving repulsive forces similar to subatomic forces, as well as polarization.
The partnership will continue with a second workshop scheduled to be hosted by the University of Insubria at its Como and Varese campuses between late May and early June 2027.
