University of Ioannina improves performance in Times Higher Education 2027 rankings

The University of Ioannina has demonstrated improved performance in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, maintaining its position in the 1201–1400 band.

Significant progress was noted in two primary evaluation pillars: Teaching and Research Environment. The score for Teaching, which assesses the learning environment, rose by 12.4% from 16.9 in 2026 to 19.0 in 2027, marking its highest level since 2019. Similarly, the Research Environment score increased by 13.4%, rising from 15.7 to 17.8, the institution's highest performance in this category since 2016.

These two pillars account for 58.5% of the total score. While the improvements in these specific indicators did not change the university's overall ranking band, they reflect growth in research activity, resources, and reputation within a highly competitive international landscape involving institutions from 118 countries.
