University of Ioannina student transit subsidy extended to 2027

The University of Ioannina has announced the continuation of the subsidized monthly unlimited transit card for its students for a third consecutive year. A new agreement between the Municipality of Ioannina and the Urban KTEL Ioannina, approved by the Municipal Council, ensures the measure remains in place until September 2027.

The monthly cost of the transit card will be maintained at 20 euros, a significant reduction from the previous price of 35 euros. This 15-euro monthly saving is achieved through a combined effort: the Municipality of Ioannina provides a 10-euro subsidy, while Urban KTEL Ioannina provides an additional 5-euro discount.

University Rector Professor Anna K. Batistatou expressed gratitude to the local authorities, noting that the initiative substantially reduces daily commuting costs and supports student welfare by easing the cost of living for those studying away from home.
