University of Ioannina to confer honorary doctorate on Emmanouil E. Gdoutos

University of Ioannina Emmanouil E. Gdoutos honorary doctorate Materials Science and Engineering Greece

The University of Ioannina will hold a ceremony on Friday, October 23, 2026, to confer an honorary doctorate upon Professor Emeritus Emmanouil E. Gdoutos. The award is being presented by the Department of Materials Science and Engineering within the Polytechnic School.

The ceremony will take place at 18:00 in the ‘Georgios Mylonas’ Ceremonial Hall and is open to the public. The program includes an address by the University Rector, Anna K. Batistatou, and a speech by Professor Gdoutos titled ‘Fracture Mechanics: A Modern Theory of Structural Calculation’.

Attendees can participate in person or watch the event via a live internet stream.
