University of Jaén secures four Beatriz Galindo research grants

The University of Jaén (UJA) was awarded four of the five maximum contracts in the 2026 Beatriz Galindo programme, positioning it third among Andalusian universities after Granada and Sevilla and on par with Córdoba.

The grants are funded by Spain’s Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities as part of an €18.8 million budget that supports 100 four‑year research contracts at public universities. Senior‑track awards cover Filology, Philosophy and Social Sciences, while junior‑track awards support Computer Science, Technology, History and Art.

UJA’s Vice‑Rector for Research and Knowledge Transfer, Mª Victoria López, called the outcome a “great achievement” that reinforces the university’s drive to attract and retain international research talent. At the same time, the university’s Institute of Olive and Olive Oil Research (INUO) received accreditation and a €1.2 million funding tranche.
