University of Kara reduces student bus fares in Togo

The University of Kara has announced a reduction in student bus fares, effective November 1, 2026. Professor Prénam Houzou-Mouzou, the university president, signed the decision on October 26, 2026, lowering the cost per trip from 150 FCFA to 100 FCFA, a 33.33% decrease.

The transport service utilizes approximately ten 35-seat buses to connect university sites with several neighborhoods, including Pya, Tchitchao, Yadè, Tomdè, Waka da, and Soumdina. Students must present a university card and a transport ticket to use the service.

This measure is intended to alleviate the daily commuting costs for students. For those making daily round trips, the monthly expenditure is projected to drop from 6,000 FCFA to 4,000 FCFA over a standard 20-day period.
