University of Kufa confers Honorary Doctorate on Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin

The University of Kufa has conferred an Honorary Doctorate upon Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the 53rd al-Dai al-Mutlaq and leader of the global Dawoodi Bohra community. The award was presented during a ceremony in Surat, India.

A high-level Iraqi delegation, including Prof. Dr Hayder Abed Dhahad, Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Prof. Dr Alaa Naji Almawla, President of the University of Kufa, led the presentation. The university cited Syedna’s contributions to academic excellence, cultural preservation, and social welfare as the basis for the honor.

Officials noted that Surat provided a significant venue for the ceremony due to its connection to Syedna’s ancestral heritage and Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah, the community’s primary educational institution. Syedna has held leadership roles in various academic institutions, including serving as Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia and patron of Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah.
