University of Kufa professors lead doctoral defenses at Iraqi universities
Faculty members from the University of Kufa are participating in doctoral thesis defense committees at other Iraqi institutions, highlighting academic cooperation between regional universities.
At the University of Karbala, Dr. Muslim Abdul Amir Khudair chaired a defense in the Department of Civil Engineering for researcher Suad Abbas Ali. The thesis focused on the seismic retrofitting of partially damaged, high-strength, lightweight reinforced concrete columns. The study utilized various reinforcement techniques, including steel jacketing and CFRP strips, finding that hybrid systems provided the best seismic performance.
At the University of Al-Qadisiyah, Dr. Abdullah Abis Al-Hatimi chaired a defense in the College of Veterinary Medicine for researcher Baraa Aqeel Hussein. The research involved the genomic isolation and characterization of a Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain from sheep colons, evaluating its psychobiotic potential in relation to the gut-brain axis and stress-induced depression models.
