University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria launches mentorship program

The University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) is implementing the Mentor-PTGAS Program to address an upcoming wave of retirements. The institution expects that up to 40% of its workforce will retire in the coming years, potentially leading to a loss of specialized technical knowledge and institutional memory.

Approved by the Governing Council and presided over by Rector Lluís Serra, the program will allow retired professionals to return temporarily to train and guide active staff. This initiative aims to ensure a smooth generational transition and maintain the continuity of university services by facilitating the transfer of essential expertise to employees assuming new responsibilities.
