University of León hosts international debate on AI future

The University of León is hosting the 42nd Congress of the Spanish Society for Natural Language Processing (Sepln). The event brings together over 200 participants from nine countries to discuss advancements and challenges in natural language processing, a field central to current artificial intelligence applications.

Rafael Muñoz, president of Sepln, emphasized that language involves knowledge, meaning, and context rather than just sequences of words. He argued that AI should function as a tool to assist humans and increase efficiency, but must remain under human supervision to ensure that final decision-making remains a human responsibility.
