The University of León (ULE) is collaborating with Xiangtan University in China to establish an academic center in Xiangtan, Hunan province. The project aims to offer four distinct degree programs, likely focusing on engineering, economic sciences, and environmental sciences.

The announcement was made during a presentation marking the 15th anniversary of the Confucius Institute in León. José Alberto Benítez, the Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Global Engagement, noted that the project could become a reality within two years, pending various administrative procedures and coordination with the University System of Castilla y León (Sucyl).

University Rector Nuria González emphasized that the initiative is intended to expand the institution's international presence, attract talent, and create social and economic opportunities. The Confucius Institute continues to serve as a cultural bridge, offering 17 levels of language learning and 43 study groups.
