University of León staff announce protests against adjustment plan
Labor unions UGT, CCOO, and CSIF have announced a series of protests at the University of León starting September 14. The mobilizations target the institution's Sustainability and Institutional Development Plan, which unions argue unfairly penalizes Technical, Management, and Administration and Services staff (PTGAS).
Key protest measures include a “minimum workday” every Monday, with morning shifts running from 9:00 to 14:00 and afternoon shifts from 14:00 to 19:00. Unions have also instructed staff to refuse overtime, extra services, and the use of hour banks. Additionally, employees will strictly adhere to assigned duties and reject any shift changes not communicated at least five working days in advance.
The unions stated that staff should not bear the consequences of previous budgetary decisions, asserting that “the PTGAS will not pay the price for wasteful spending.” They warned that actions could expand if the Rectorate does not revise its position.
