University of Liberia faces strikes and protests

Layli Maparyan, President of the University of Liberia, marked the one-year anniversary of her weekly column by addressing ongoing challenges at the institution. Despite efforts to foster a positive narrative, the university is currently facing significant disruptions, including faculty and staff strikes and student protests.

Maparyan noted that while the academic year has commenced without classes officially starting at the university, there have been momentous developments over the past year, including the acquisition of $6.3 million in funding.
