University of Liberia finance chief resigns amid faculty standoff

Dr. Lester Tenny has resigned as the Vice President for Finance at the University of Liberia, just days before the new semester is scheduled to begin. Tenny had been a primary target of the University of Liberia Faculty and Staff Association, which blamed him for a payroll purge that has kept faculty and staff off all campuses since July.

University President Dr. Layli Maparyan announced the resignation in a memorandum, appointing Comptroller Togar M. Gibson as the Acting Vice President for Finance and Fiscal Affairs. Gibson will hold both positions simultaneously while the university’s Board of Trustees is consulted regarding a permanent solution for the institution’s financial leadership.
