University of Louisville athletes gain eligibility via NCAA lawsuit

University of Louisville athletes are gaining eligibility through legal proceedings involving the NCAA. Basketball player LJ Wells has joined the Cardinals' 2026-27 roster after four seasons at Northern Kentucky. During his senior year at NKU, Wells averaged 15.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

In football, linebacker Kalib Perry has been granted a motion to intervene as a plaintiff in the Wells vs. NCAA lawsuit. This legal action, filed in a Jefferson County courthouse, allows Perry to potentially play as early as this Saturday under a temporary restraining order. The lawsuit seeks to provide a fifth season of eligibility for Division I athletes who began collegiate play in the 2022-2023 season. Defensive back Jabari Mack has also gained eligibility through this suit and has already appeared in two games for the team.
