University of Maine women's soccer defeats Mercer 3-1

The University of Maine women's soccer team defeated Mercer University 3-1 in their home opener at the New Balance Soccer Complex. Isabella Meadows opened the scoring for the Black Bears just 65 seconds into the match.

Luise Reinwald secured the victory with two goals, marking her first career brace. Her first goal was a header from a corner kick in the 25th minute, and her second was a 20-yard strike in the 68th minute. Elena Barenberg recorded five saves for Maine.

Following this win, Maine moves to a 1-1-0 record for the season, while Mercer holds a 2-0-0 record. Maine is scheduled to play Sacred Heart on Sunday, August 23, followed by a match against Merrimack on August 27.
