University of Malta clears Vincent Marmara of wrongdoing in survey inquiry
The University of Malta has released a conclusion clearing academic Vincent Marmara of wrongdoing regarding a survey commissioned by the defense team of Yorgen Fenech. The survey, conducted by Marmara’s company Sagalytics, was intended to assess whether prejudicial publicity existed prior to Fenech’s trial for the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.
Political party Momentum, led by Professor Arnold Cassola, has condemned the university’s decision. Momentum released details of the survey, noting that respondents were allegedly told they were being contacted by a “Malta-based polling company on behalf of an independent client” to maintain the anonymity of the client, Raymond Fenech.
Critics, including Momentum, have questioned the ethics of the survey methodology and the university’s internal investigation. The party alleges the inquiry contradicts testimonies regarding potential identity fraud and has called for higher academic and ethical standards within the institution.
