University of Maribor installs Dean Korošak as new rector

The University of Maribor held a ceremony to symbolically present the insignias to its newly elected rector, Dean Korošak. Korošak, a professor of applied physics, assumed leadership on June 20 and will serve until June 19, 2030.

During the event, American mathematician Judy Anita Kennedy received an honorary doctorate from the university. The former rector, Zdravko Kačič, handed over the insignias to Korošak. Korošak has identified several priorities for his mandate, including fostering a work environment based on trust, integrating students into research earlier, and managing the largest investment cycle in the university's history to expand research and educational infrastructure.

The University of Maribor is Slovenia's second-largest and second-oldest university, serving approximately 15,800 students across 17 faculties. The ceremony also coincided with the promotion of 68 new doctoral graduates.
