University of Messina and IULM rank among top in THE Impact Rankings 2026

The University of Messina (UniME) was placed first in Italy and 26th worldwide in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2026 for its contribution to Sustainable Development Goal 3 – Good Health and Well‑being. The ranking highlighted free student access to sports, cultural initiatives, public‑health education projects, partnerships with health institutions and psychological support services. Rector Giovanna Spatari said the achievement “confirms that we have chosen the right path – one that places people, especially our students, at its centre.”

Milan‑based IULM University entered the top‑20 global list for gender equality in the THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026, ranking first in the EU and 14th worldwide for Sustainable Development Goal 5 – Gender Equality. The university also secured leading positions in SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). Both institutions’ strong performance reflects growing ESG commitments in Italian higher education and aligns with the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
