University of Milan adds 60 medical school seats for 2026/27

The University of Milan (Statale) will increase the number of places in its single‑cycle Medicine and Surgery degree by 60 for the 2026/27 academic year. The expansion raises the total capacity for the programme from 556 to 616 seats, an increase of about 11 %. At the Vialba–Fatebenefratelli Sacco teaching pole, the number of students will rise from 165 to 225, bringing the pole’s overall enrolment to 225.

The university will keep the open‑semester model introduced in September, offering in‑person lessons that can also be attended synchronously online and spreading teaching across several sites, including Lodi for veterinary students. The full teaching staff remains composed of tenured professors. The changes aim to meet ministerial accreditation requirements and respond to student feedback, while making better use of existing university facilities.
