University of Minnesota soccer defeats NDSU 2-1
The University of Minnesota women's soccer team secured a 2-1 victory against North Dakota State at Dacotah Field in Fargo. Senior forward Ava Westlund led the Gophers with two unassisted goals, scoring a free kick in the 66th minute to tie the match and a penalty kick seven minutes later to clinch the win.
Minnesota dominated the match statistically, recording 18 shots compared to North Dakota State's four. The Gophers entered the contest with a 1-0-1 record, while the Bison fell to 0-3-0. Following this win, Minnesota is scheduled to travel to Provo, Utah, to face No. 9 BYU on August 27.
