University of Missouri to honor 1960 football team as National Champions

The University of Missouri will formally recognize its 1960 football team as National Champions during a halftime ceremony on September 19 at Faurot Field. The recognition comes following a unanimous resolution by the United States Senate, which was introduced by Senator Eric Schmitt.

The decision to honor the squad is based on the Poling System, a historical national selector recognized by the NCAA. Led by head coach Dan Devine, the Tigers finished the season with an 11-0 record after the University of Kansas was forced to forfeit a victory due to the use of an ineligible player. Mizzou concluded their season with a victory over Navy in the Orange Bowl.
