University of Modena and Reggio Emilia joins CECAM network for molecular simulations

The University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Unimore) has become a member of the Centre Européen de Calcul Atomique et Moléculaire (CECAM), a leading European organization that supports advanced atomic‑ and molecular‑level computational methods. The university entered CECAM through the Italian node CECAM‑IT‑SIMUL, which was founded in 2017 and is coordinated by Dr. Marco De Vivo of the Italian Institute of Technology in Genoa. Unimore will be represented in the node by Prof. Giovanni‑Maria Piccini of the Department of Chemical and Geological Sciences.

CECAM, established in 1969 and headquartered at EPFL in Lausanne, promotes collaboration among researchers via international workshops, advanced schools for young scientists, algorithm‑development programs, and joint research projects. Membership enables Unimore to host and organise workshops, schools and other scientific meetings under the CECAM umbrella, strengthening Italy’s computational chemistry community and expanding the use of artificial‑intelligence tools for studying complex materials and chemical processes.
