University of North Alabama and Pace University join FirstGen Forward Network

The University of North Alabama and Pace University have each been selected as members of the FirstGen Forward Network Class of 2026, a national program that recognizes colleges for their commitment to first‑generation student success. The network, which now includes more than 500 institutions across 48 U.S. states and the District of Columbia, aims to improve academic and co‑curricular outcomes for students who are the first in their families to attend college.

University of North Alabama provost Dr. Brien Smith said the school is "extremely honored" to join the network, while Pace University President Marvin Krislov called the recognition a testament to the university’s dedication to opening doors for its one‑in‑four first‑generation students. Both schools will collaborate with peer institutions to share strategies, professional development, and resources that foster a sense of belonging and stronger support systems for first‑generation students.
