University of North Carolina adds right‑hander Major Osbolt to baseball roster

North Carolina's baseball program announced the addition of right‑hander Major Osbolt to its pitching staff. The 6‑foot‑3, 195‑pound transfer comes from Walters State Community College, where he posted a breakout freshman season that helped the junior‑college team reach the NJCAA JUCO World Series.

Osbolt, originally a commit to LSU before de‑committing, earned NJCAA Division I Pitcher of the Week honors in late April and combined with a teammate for 20 strikeouts in a tournament win over Chattanooga State. Notable performances include a five‑inning, three‑hit shutout with 11 strikeouts against Dyersburg State and a six‑inning effort with 14 strikeouts versus Chattanooga State. He will join former Walters State left‑hander Tim Tyler on the Tar Heels' staff as the team looks to build on recent ACC appearances.
