University of Northern British Columbia offers $2,500 tuition credit to Shad Canada camp alumni

University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) partnered with Shad Canada to host a 27‑day summer camp for 60 high‑school students in grades 10‑11 from across Canada. The program ran throughout July 2026 at UNBC’s Prince George campus, where participants engaged in STEAM‑focused workshops covering artificial intelligence, environmental pollution control and food security.

Each student who completed the camp is now eligible for a tuition credit of up to $2,500, applied evenly across the first two semesters of an undergraduate programme at UNBC if they enrol by September 2029. Eligibility requires submitting an online prospective student profile by 1 September 2026. Interim President Bill Owen said the credit “is a meaningful way to keep the momentum going and encourage Shad UNBC participants to imagine the next steps in their educational journey.”
