University of Northwestern golf teams lead UMAC Championships

The University of Northwestern (UNW) golf teams have established significant leads during the 2026 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Championships at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker, Minnesota.

The men’s team surged ahead to take a six-stroke lead entering the final round on Saturday after shooting a 306 (+18) on Friday. Carson Besonen contributed to the momentum with a 73 (+1), moving into a tie for third place individually.

The women’s team is pursuing a historic fourth consecutive UMAC title. After a dominant opening round that placed all five participants in the top five scores, the team extended its lead to 49 strokes on Friday. Bri Brandt moved into the top individual spot after 36 holes, following an opening round led by Morgan Philyaw.
