Several academic and institutional developments are occurring across the region. In Serbia, the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU) has announced a new election cycle. The process will begin in late October, with new members to be elected in November 2027 and new leadership, including a president and vice presidents, to be chosen by March 2027. Officials emphasized the need to increase membership numbers and improve the representation of women and younger researchers.
In Novi Sad, the Faculty of Philosophy held re-run elections for its Student Parliament and university representatives, with the Alliance of Students of the Faculty of Philosophy emerging victorious. Additionally, the Appellate Court in Novi Sad upheld a ruling against the Faculty of Philosophy, stating the institution illegally reduced employee salaries during student blockades without following individual disciplinary procedures.
In Montenegro, the Minister of Education, Science, and Innovation visited schools in Bar to inspect reconstruction projects for physical education halls, funded by a joint agreement between the Ministry and the Municipality of Bar. Meanwhile, in Croatia, the Senate of the University of Rijeka approved statute changes for the Faculty of Health Studies to allow for new dean elections, following previous disputes regarding candidate eligibility.
