University of Oklahoma lands multiple 2028 recruits for football and softball

The University of Oklahoma has secured several high-profile verbal commitments for its 2028 recruiting classes in both football and softball.

In football, Colton Fitzgibbon, a two-sport athlete from Danville, California, has committed to play both football and baseball for the Sooners. Fitzgibbon is a wide receiver and a left-handed pitcher/outfielder noted for his speed, holding a 6.26-second 60-yard dash. His commitment brings the Sooners' 2028 football class to four members.

In softball, head coach Patty Gasso continues to build the 2028 class with multiple additions. Middle infielders Kate McCartney and Gia Ryan have committed to the program. McCartney is ranked as the No. 6 player in the 2028 class by Softball America, while Ryan is ranked No. 22. Additionally, outfielder Grace Tonga from Stillwater, Oklahoma, has also joined the 2028 class. These recruits join existing commitments including top pitcher Sophia Schlader and middle infielder Braylyn Saenz, positioning Oklahoma at the top of the 2028 softball recruiting rankings.
