University of Oldenburg launches pottery workshops for endometriosis patients
The University of Oldenburg is conducting a research project on endometriosis that includes hands‑on pottery workshops for women living with the chronic condition. Led by Professor Milena von Kutzleben in health services research, the study seeks to assess how well patients feel medically cared for. The project partners with Bremen ceramic artist Laura Solar, who herself has endometriosis, to co‑design the workshops and engage participants directly.
Endometriosis affects an estimated 15 % of women, causing severe pelvic pain and other symptoms. By inviting patients to create ceramics, the researchers aim to involve them more actively in the study and explore any therapeutic benefits of the creative process.
