University of Paderborn hosts language teachers' day and releases study on student competencies
On 23 September the University of Paderborn organised a one‑day professional development event for teachers of English, French and Spanish. The programme featured lectures, workshops and an exhibition on teaching materials, with a focus on the use of artificial intelligence, innovative methods for language acquisition, multilingualism and cultural diversity.
A separate long‑term study by researchers at the same university tracked 144 teacher‑training students over two years. The research, published in the Journal for Educational Research Online, found that the competencies most helpful to students shift as they progress: early on, orientation, peer collaboration and study‑skill support reduce stress, while later years see time‑management, stress‑handling and procrastination avoidance become critical. The authors suggest that bachelor programmes should tailor support services to the specific needs of each study phase.
