University of Palermo awards Artemisia Prize to three women

The University of Palermo has awarded the second edition of the Artemisia Prize to three women recognized for their efforts to drive social change and provide opportunities in challenging environments.

Maruzza Battaglia, founder of Lab Zen 2, was honored for bringing creativity and female employment opportunities to a complex urban periphery. Nicoletta Cosentino, creator of Cuoche combattenti, was recognized for using culinary initiatives as tools for inclusion and support for women escaping domestic violence.

The prize also included a posthumous recognition for Elda Pucci, the first female mayor of Palermo, who led the city during a difficult period marked by the presence of organized crime. The ceremony was attended by university Rector Massimo Midiri, Mayor Roberto Lagalla, and Pro-rector Beatrice Pasciuta.
