University of Patras Laboratory celebrates 10 years of archival research
The Laboratory of Archival Evidence and Press (EATT) of the University of Patras will host a multi-faceted event titled ‘Archive, Literature, Education and Cultural Democracy’ on October 9–10, 2026. The event marks the 10th anniversary of the laboratory, which was established in August 2016 through the initiative of Professor Katerina Kostiou.
Part of the ‘Welcome to UP 2026’ program, the event aims to highlight the role of archives as living spaces for knowledge and culture in the digital age. The program includes an international conference on the importance of archives in research, presentations of the laboratory’s decade of work in education and publishing, and demonstrations of how technology can revitalize archival material.
Attendees will have the opportunity to experience virtual reality applications, including the project ‘Languages and Places in Joyce’s Ulysses,’ which is also exhibited at the Joyce Centre in Dublin. The event is intended for the academic community, authors, and the public, serving to thank donors who have entrusted their archives to the laboratory and to showcase research opportunities involving collections from significant literary figures and periodicals.
