University of Patras to host free screening of ‘Kapodistrias’ film

The University of Patras has announced a free screening of the historical film ‘Kapodistrias’, directed by Yannis Smaragdis, as part of the ‘Welcome to UP 2026’ program. The event is scheduled for Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 8:00 PM at the University of Patras Conference and Cultural Center.

The screening aims to introduce students and the wider community to the life and legacy of Ioannis Kapodistrias, a pivotal figure in modern Greek history. The inclusion of the film is intended to connect the reception of new students with historical memory and cultural dialogue.

Prior to the film, the event will feature the awards ceremony for the Student Creative Message Competition. The Welcome to UP 2026 festival is organized by the University of Patras in co-organization with the Region of Western Greece and the Chamber of Achaia, in collaboration with the municipalities of Patras and Mesolonghi and the Topali Foundation.
