University of Perugia ranks in top 2.2% of world universities in CWUR 2026

The University of Perugia climbed to 459th place out of more than 21,000 institutions in the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) Global 2000 list for 2026, placing it in the top 2.2 % of universities worldwide. Within Europe the university sits at 180th, while nationally it is 17th among Italian universities. In the research‑specific sub‑ranking it achieved 424th position, and the overall score awarded was 74.9.

CWUR’s methodology evaluates universities using around 81 million outcome‑based data points, covering student outcomes, faculty credentials, publications, citations and other objective indicators. The ranking excludes surveys and self‑reported data, aiming for transparent and comparable results across continents. University officials highlighted the placement as confirmation of the institution’s research quality and its growing international reputation.
