University of Porto to award honorary doctorate to Marion Nestle

The University of Porto will award the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to American nutritionist Marion Nestle on November 12. The honor is proposed by the Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences (FCNAUP) and marks the 110th honorary doctorate bestowed by the university.

Nestle is recognized for her ability to translate complex science into practical recommendations while maintaining independence from corporate interests. The faculty highlighted her role in integrating sociology and politics into nutrition curricula and her global impact on advocating for sustainable and equitable food systems.

The ceremony will take place at the University of Porto's Rectorate and coincides with the 50th anniversary of FCNAUP.
