University of Potsdam opens sustainable Golm 2 student dormitory
A new student dormitory, Golm 2, has opened at the University of Potsdam's Golm Campus. The building provides 423 residential spaces, including over 200 single apartments, barrier-free units, and family apartments, across a net floor area of 14,500 square meters.
The facility is designed with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainability, featuring a combined heat and power plant, heat pumps, a photovoltaic system, and a greywater system. Rainwater is managed via a retention basin that feeds into the public network.
The construction utilized 525 windows produced by Schapler Fenster und Sonnenschutz using Veka Softline 82 MD profiles. These windows feature a fine-structure decorative foil that provides the appearance of powder-coated aluminum while maintaining the properties of plastic profiles.
