University of Prishtina land protected by court security measure

The Basic Court in Prishtina has approved a request from the Prosecution Office to impose a security measure on a 68-are cadastral plot located in the technical faculties area. This land is municipal property under the permanent use of the University of Prishtina.

The court's decision prohibits any actions that could lead to the sale, transfer, donation, encumbrance, or alteration of the property's factual state. This measure aims to protect the land from potential alienation during ongoing legal proceedings.

The University of Prishtina stated that the decision is a significant development in protecting public assets. For years, private individuals have made ownership claims regarding this land, including million-euro demands for rent on space the University maintains it has used legitimately for academic activities. The dispute involves claims based on a purported 1998 municipal court judgment, which has previously raised serious documentation concerns according to a parliamentary commission report.
